Press Release
November 18, 2002.
CIG President Dr. Dubrovinsky, as a member of Canadian Trade Mission delegation, attended 10th Quality Summit in India hosted by Confederation of Indian Industry.
Dr. Dubrovinsky gave a presentation entitled "Voice over IP network: Quality of Service & Bandwidth Planning", met with the National Regulator and leading Indian telecommunications operators.
Dr. Dubrovinsky emphasized: "In our opinion countries like India with very low teledensity should carefully consider alternatives for their network expansion: traditional circuit switching or converged IP-based packet network with VoIP functionality. It is crucial that developing countries have the opportunity to use their limited money wisely by building a single infrastructure to carry both voice and data. They have no need to follow in the footsteps of developed countries, which built separate networks for voice and data before it was technically feasible to use one network for both.
CIG has extensive experience working with different operators in the developing countries. India could be a good expansion on our current Eastern European market. We can help Indian operators to overhaul their approaches to network development. We can also support the Indian government's program for rural area development by supplying Next Generation Networking solutions and products including Video on Demand ".
